A moratorium on certification of industrial plantations has been asked to FSC

Several environmental and social justice organizations from different countries have sent an open letter to the FSC asking for “a moratorium on the certification and re-certification of industrial timber plantations, until the findings and recommendations of the present “Plantations Review” have been incorporated into the FSC certification system and are being properly implemented.

They have sent another letter, but to the Plantations Review Committee before they start their meeting in Madrid, Spain. In this letter they made an urgent “call for the full withdrawal of the FSC from plantation certification”, and also reaffirmed their demand for a moratorium on certification of plantations.
