Processes stemming from the Earth Summit:

FOLLOW-UP MECHANISM
  • Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD)
    created in December 1992 to ensure effective follow-up of UNCED, to monitor and report on implementation of the agreements at the local, national, regional and international level

  • In 1995, the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development established the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests (IPF), followed by the Intergovernmental Forum on Forests (IFF), established in 1997 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
