The Brazil - New Zealand - USA connection: According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Environmental Assessment: "The transgenic Eucalyptus started out as a hybrid developed in Brazil. In Brazil, small pieces of the tissue derived from the hybrid were put into sterile tissue culture and sent to New Zealand for transformation. The transformed lines were sent to the U.S. as sterile tissue culture lines that were inspected by APHIS..." (page 27)
