Lutas pelas florestas
Quando as empresas destroem florestas ou restringem – e até proíbem – o acesso de povos e populações a seus territórios, colocam-se em risco o modo de vida e até mesmo a existência das comunidades. O WRM apoia as lutas dos povos da floresta em defesa de seus territórios e pelo direito de decidir como viver e usar as florestas das quais dependem.

Video - Militarised deforestation in Papua: how Indonesia is converting indigenous forest into farms
(Disponível apenas em inglês) The Indonesian government’s food estate programme aims to convert 1.6 million hectares of land in Papua into rice fields and sugar cane plantations, annexing indigenous lands in the process. (Apenas em inglês) On October 28th, thousands of residents from Sagea, Gemaf and other villages on the island of Halmahera entered in shock with security forces when they occupied the installatioins of PT IWIP (Industrial Weda Bay Industrial Park) to protest against the company´s nickel mining activities that are destroying their land.
