Indigenous Peoples from Ecuador are calling for support to stop the expansion of the oil frontier in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In September 2025, the Ecuadorian government announced its plans to auction off at least 11 oil blocks in the provinces of Napo and Pastaza. Three million hectares of Amazon rainforest could be handed over to oil companies, impacting the Achuar, Kichwa, Sapara, Shiwiar, Waorani, Waoani, and Shuar, as well as the Tagaeri and Taromenane, who live in ‘voluntary’ isolation. "For the State, these areas are oil blocks, but for us, they are territories of life and our home," denounces an Indigenous leader in a campaign video. Following large mobilizations in 2012 and 2013, Indigenous Peoples in Ecuador had already blocked the auctioning off of the very same blocks inside their territories for more oil exploitation. Faced with the new government offensive, they are adamant, "We did not give our consent. We resisted before and we will resist now." The petition is available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
